Present in my life

(c) An Minnen

No fathers present at birth,
no fathers present in our lives.
A mothers tenderness smothers our eyes,
and therein, the rest of our lives, we will hide.
Hide from the ghoulish sorrow,
escape from the regret,
flee to safer havens.
Before pain's deep waters swallow us alive.

But if we do drown,
finally crippled by the weight of it all.
We'll be buffered by that tenderness and love,
'coz remember, therein we will hide.

But if we are one of the lucky ones,
come out stronger than this ordeal.
Bite off all the strings that have kept us nailed to the ground.
Then we shouldn't be ashamed to fly.
Wipe our tears off with the hems of clouds.
Make silver linings out of all the
colourless tears we've cried.

After it all, lets not forget
the ones who never gave up on us.
The ones who were present at our birth.
The ones who were present in our lives.
'Coz when faith in us was short,
never did they ever stop believing.
Instilling faith within our souls.
Hugging us, kissing us, smiling at us,
filling up the voids that reach the core of our hearts.
