I N F A T U A T I O N

Swallowed up in infatuation,
swathed in its embrace.
Clouds glowing of silver linings.
Cupid’s wings brushing against my face.

I’m caged behind bars of lace.
My hands, too brittle, can’t set me free.
Your face, a halo of pastel feathers
I’m love-blinded, but I swear that’s what I see.

Enchanted by your presence,
I’m shuddering under your stare.
My words all hitched up in my brain,
I’m wild of infatuation when you ain’t there.

I’m swallowed up in infatuation,
Tangled between its slippery grasp.
Obsessions too minimal word to express this,
I’ll jus' wait till my guardian angels come fetch me at dusk.
